The Fischer DE58 is a digital differential pressure transmitter and switch specifically designed for level measurement and monitoring in liquefied technical-gas and cryogenic storage tanks.
The instrument measures positive pressure, negative pressure and differential pressure in compatible liquid and gaseous media. In cryogenic applications, tank level is determined from the hydrostatic pressure generated by the liquid column.
The DE58 is particularly suitable for tanks containing liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid argon and liquefied carbon dioxide, as well as technical-gas storage and distribution installations.
Its diaphragm measuring system provides a rugged design, high overload resistance and wear-free operation. An inductive pickup converts diaphragm movement into an electrical signal proportional to the measured value.
The unit combines digital indication and switching functions for minimum and maximum limit monitoring. Depending on the selected configuration, an analogue output can transmit the differential-pressure or level value to a PLC, remote indicator, data logger or SCADA system.
Available configuration functions include selectable pressure units, zero-point adjustment, characteristic scaling, inversion and offset. A table with up to 30 points can be used to adapt the characteristic, while advanced parameterisation and measuring-point documentation are available through the Fischer EU03 PC adapter.
As a Fischer distributor, Garma Electrónica recommends the DE58 for applications requiring level measurement, local indication, analogue transmission and alarm switching in a single rugged instrument for cryogenic storage tanks.
The DE58 indirectly determines liquid level from the differential pressure generated by the product column. This technology provides continuous measurement without requiring moving components inside the storage tank.
Correct range selection must consider the effective measuring height and the density of the liquefied gas, as hydrostatic pressure depends on both parameters.
The transmitter is suitable for monitoring tanks and mini-tank systems containing liquid N₂, O₂, Ar and CO₂. Local indication allows operators to check tank contents directly, while the electrical outputs support remote monitoring.
The switching outputs can generate minimum-level, maximum-level or deviation alarms. This supports replenishment planning, prevents tanks from running empty and improves process availability.
The optional analogue output transmits the continuous measured value to a PLC, data-acquisition system or SCADA platform. Operators can monitor trends, record consumption and generate maintenance or replenishment notifications.
The DE58 can be used in welding, laser cutting, inerting, purging, gas blanketing, metal fabrication and other processes that use technical gases stored in liquid form.
Its rugged construction and overload resistance make it suitable for industrial storage tanks and selected marine applications requiring tank-content monitoring by differential pressure.
The following application data should be defined before selecting the measuring range and product configuration:
Garma Electrónica provides technical support for calculating the differential-pressure range from the liquid height and density, selecting the correct DE58 configuration and defining the accessories required for installation.
